Predictability The extent to which you can anticipate and expect the machine to support the tasks. Prediction Horizon (MTCD) The time interval in which conflicts will be detected. Predictive Path (SNET) The future path of an aircraft as predicted by a Safety Net. Predictive Validity A demonstrated relationship between test scores of applicants and some future behaviour on the job. (SIOP, 1987) Predictor A measure used to predict criterion performance, for example, scores on a test, or judgements of interviewers (SIOP, 1987). Pre-On-the-Job Training A phase of locally based training during which extensive use of simulation using site-specific facilities will enhance the development of previously acquired routines and abilities to an exceptionally high level of achievement. Present Mode A / Mode C The Mode A / Mode C was not equal to FFFF16, (i.e. Mode A / Mode C not Absent). Presentation Layer The layer of the OSI reference model that controls the coding, format and appearance of the data transferred to and from the application layer. Presentation Object The visual representation of a number of conceptual objects. Pre-simulation Exercise Allows practice in restricted or in real time of part of the skills necessary for the operational task in a possibly not realistic environment. Pressure-altitude An atmospheric pressure expressed in terms of altitude which corresponds to that pressure in the Standard Atmosphere. Primary Plot The radar position of a target is determined by the radio energy reflected back from the aircraft. Primary Radar (PR) A radar system which uses reflected radio signals. Primary Radar Surveillance Blip The visual indication in non-symbolic form, on a radar display of the position of an aircraft obtained by primary radar. Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR) A radar which detects presence of a target based on reflected radar energy from that target. Primary Means Navigation System A navigation system approved for a given operation or phase of flight that must meet accuracy and integrity requirements, but need not meet full availability and continuity of service requirements. Safety is achieved by limiting flights to specific time periods, and through appropriate procedural restrictions.

Priority
Priority is defined as the relative importance of a particular Protocol Data Unit (PDU) relative to other PDUs in transit, and is used to allocate resources which become scarce during the transfer process.
Probability of Detection
The probability that for a given aircraft, at each scan a radar target report with positional data is produced, (i.e. probability that a correct radar plot message is derived when a target is present).
Probability of False Alarm
For a long observation period, the actual number of detected false alarms divided by the
