Flight Path
The set of positions an aircraft has occupied, is occupying or is expected to occupy.
Flight Plan
Contains specified information provided to Air Traffic Services Units, relative to an intended flight or portion of a flight of an aircraft.
Flight Plan Data
Flight Plan Data is used as a generic term to denote all flight plan related data known to a system such as : Callsign, Aircraft type, Departure and destination aerodrome, Landing runway and take-off runway, Planned flight levels (e.g. EFL, NFL, IFL, XFL, etc.), Planned route (set of way-points), ETAs and ATAs, etc.
Flight Position Monitor
A tool to support the Air Traffic Controller by monitoring flight progress, detecting (possible) deviations from the planned route and possibly suggesting corrective actions.

Tip: to find a specific term, use the Acrobat search : click F on the binocular icon in the window bar menu
Flight Script The Flight script or navigation plan contains all the data required to compute a trajectory including the route, ATC tactical constraints and aircraft performance data.
Flight Service Station Air Traffic Facilities which provide pilot briefing, en route communications and VFR search and rescue services, assist lost aircraft and aircraft in emergency situations, relay ATC clearances, originate Notices to Airmen, broadcast aviation weather and airspace information, receive and process IFR flight plans and monitor NAVAIDs. At selected locations, FSS's provide Enroute Flight Advisory service, take weather observations, issue airport advisories and advise Customs and Immigration authorities of transborder flights.
Flight Status An indication of whether a given aircraft requires special handling by ATS units or not.
Flight Technical Error The accuracy with which the aircraft is controlled as measured by the indicated aircraft position with respect to the indicated command or desired position. It does not include blunder errors.
Flight Visibility The visibility forward from the cockpit of an aircraft in flight.
Flow Control 1- An ATN function which controls the flow of data to perform buffer management within a layer or between adjacent layers.
2- Measurement designated to adjust the flow of traffic into a given airspace, along a given, route, or bound for a given aerodrome, so as to ensure the most effective utilisation of the airspace.
Flow Management Position
is a working position established within an ACC to ensure the necessary interface with the CEU on matters concerning the provision of the ATFM Service and the interface with national AMCs on matters concerning the ASM Service.
Flow Management Unit
The strategic objectives of Flow Management Units (FMU) are to co-ordinate traffic flow in such a way as to maximise the yield of available airspace. Co-ordination between FMUs where more than one exists is essential to achieving harmonisation, effective use of airspace capacity and increased safety during peak periods of operation. By assisting in this, FMUs play a vital role in the development of the Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) system.
