RMS100 The RMS value of the state errors for a certain Mode Of Flight as function of the time spent in that Mode Of Flight, averaged over a certain number of Trajectories. RMSk (infinite) The RMS value of the state errors after convergence of Mode k, averaged over a certain number of Trajectories. RMSt The RMS value of the state errors for a Mode Of Flight, averaged over a certain number of Trajectories. Resembles RMSk however the convergence condition has been dropped. RNAV Route An en-route segment arrival or departure route (including RNAV SIDs and STARS). It may also include en-route segments established with gaps in station coverage for use in RNAV-equipped aircraft capable of automatic dead reckoning : a) The en-route phase is normally construed as operations either on RNAV routes designated, as high-low altitude routes, or direct point-to-point operations between designated waypoints; b) The terminal phase is considered as the transition from the departure runway to the first en-route waypoint, or the transition from the en-route phase of the last en-route waypoint until the initial approach fix/waypoint. A nominal value for the extent of the terminal phase would be that airspace extending approximately 50 miles from the departure or arrival airport; c) The approach phase is that portion of the flight starting at the initial approach fix/waypoint and terminating at the missed approach point. Normally, the final approach fix/waypoint is located within 10 miles from the runway threshold. The missed approach area is included in the approach phase in order to define accuracy requirements. Roadside Beacons A system using infrared or radio waves to communicate between transceivers placed at roadsides and the in-vehicle transceivers for navigation and route guidance functions. Role-Plays Student act out a working model of some real-world human situation in an interacting group. They are provided with background data and roles to play together with constraints which may change as simulation proceeds. Roles & Responsibility Charting (RACI) Refinement of RAM developed to better identify who should do what in a Project or organisation: who is responsible, accountable, consulted, informed. A RACI matrix differs from the RAM by the fact that roles are identified according to these four categories. Romania, Bulgaria, Poland In 1999, the EEC conducted a series of real-time simulation studies on behalf of Romania, Bulgaria and Poland. These used a common platform (ESCAPE-based) to study future HMI and procedures for each of these States. Studies were conducted individually and in combination. Rostering The allocation of human resources in order to ensure services for the scheduled working hours in accordance with legal and local procedures. Round Reliability The probability that when a SSR transmission is made a correct reply is received. Route The 2D trajectory of an aircraft, expressed in terms of significant points, airways or geographical points. |
