Agency for the Safety of Aerial Navigation in Africa and Madagascar
ASECNA is a public multinational establishment established in 1959, involving 16 African
members States (in 1995), responsible, inter alia, for the provision of air traffic control and
aeronautical meteorology services within the airspace of the participating States.

Agreed Target Date
Target date for a CIP Objective resulting either directly from the time scale of the ECAC Strategy or from a Standard which has been approved by the Permanent Commission, or from a decision of the EATCHIP Project Board.
Air Data Computer
The aircraft pilot and static pneumatic inputs and outside air temperature provide raw air data information to the Air Data Computer (ADC). Static port input to each ADC's (typically there are two) absolute sensors produces altitude data. Static and pilot port inputs to each ADC's differential sensor produces altitude data. Resistance changes from the temperature probe provide outside air temperature (OAT) data. These signals are fed through an ADC air data module containing programmed memory of aircraft type/binary codes, temperature probe coefficients, aircraft performance limitations and other peculiar configuration data, to the applicable systems.

The ADIRS processes data from magnetic flux sensor inputs from the on-side flux detector and compass compensation values from a remote compensator. This data together with rotating piezoelectric accelerometer/sensor data is processed and relayed to the integrated avionics processor system (flight control computers and flight management computers)
Air Initiated Comm-B Protocol (Mode S)
A procedure initiated by a Mode S transponder for transmitting a single Comm-B segment from the aircraft installation.
Air Navigation Commission (ICAO)
ICAO in its responsibility for the adoption of international standards procedures and recommended practices supports the direction of the Air Navigation Commission the following activities related to exploring the new CNS/ATM concept : Aeronautical Fixed Service (AFS System Planning for Data Interchange Panel (ASPP); Aeronautical Mobile Communications Panel (AMCP); Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Panel (ATNP); Automatic Dependent Surveillance Panel (ADSP); Global Navigation Satellite System Panel (GNSSP); Review of the General Concept of Separation Panel (RGCSP); Secondary Surveillance Radar Improvements and Collision Avoidance Systems Panel (SICASP).
Air Navigation Plan
In order to co-ordinate the provision of ATM on an international basis, the world is divided into a number of ICAO air navigation regions. Air navigation All Weather Operations Panel (AWOP) facilities and procedures for a specific region are listed in a corresponding Air Navigation Plan. Each region consists of a number of Flight Information Regions (FIRs). Each Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) within a region puts together its own ATS system based on types and densities of air traffic, the technology used for the CNS systems, topography and social and economic conditions.
