Permanent Virtual Circuit
An X.25 Virtual circuit that is permanently set up. No connection or disconnection phases are needed. A PVC is logically equivalent to a two-point-dedicated private line except slower. A PVC is slower because a hardwired connection is not provided. Each time a connection is requested, the appropriate switches and circuits must be established through the network to provide the interconnection. A PVC establishes a connection between two predetermined subscribers of the network on demand, but not permanently. With a PVC, a source and destination address are unnecessary because the two users are fixed.
Personal and Career Development
1- The systematically planned, designed, implemented and controlled identification and promotion of abilities, skills, attitudes and knowledge of employees in line with the individual expectations and needs whilst taking account of changes in jobs and tasks.
2- The PCD Project is aimed at developing and providing advanced personal and career development concepts, processes and methods for proactive development and use of ATM staff potential in the current and future ATM system.
Personality Tests Questionnaires (or inventories) to measure personality traits or behavioural tendencies. (CDSEPT, 1996). Phase Locked Loop Analogue control loop which keeps the incoming frequency in phase with a reference frequency. Phase of Flight Phases-of-Flight identified by MTCD are departure, outbound, en-route, inbound, holding, sequenced, and landing. Phase of Operation A phase of operation is a period of navigation with a constant Required Navigation Performance (RNP).
Note : Traditionally, the term "phase of flight" has related to period of navigation with different procedures/criteria such as en route (continental, oceanic), terminal, approach, and landing. As the RNP concept is introduced, "phase of operation" will relate more to a particular RNP. For example, in the future, the continental en-route phase of flight may be divided into more than one phase of operation, since several RNPs may be included as an aircraft transits a continental area.
Physical Layer The layer of the OSI reference model that controls access to the transmission medium that forms the basis for the communication system. Pilot-in-Command The pilot responsible for the operation and safety of the aircraft during flight time. Plan Position Indicator A monitor display with radar and other related information in plan position (as if projected on a horizontal plane). Planned Career Development A generic career development programme for a given group of individuals similarly employed (such as ATCOs or Engineers) with identifiable steps. Planned Trajectory The single trajectory associated with an SFPL that the flight is expected to take.
