2- The airborne radar beacon receiver/transmitter portion of the Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System (ATCRBS) which automatically receives radio signals from interrogators on the ground, and selectively replies with a specific reply pulse or pulse group only to those interrogations being received on the mode to which it is set to respond.
See also SSR Transponder. Transport Layer Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) Layer 4, Ensures End To End Data Integrity and Quality of Service. Provides reliable, transparent transfer of data between end points; provides end-to-end error recovery and flow control. Transport Service Access Point The Transport Service Access Point is the logical access point to the transport layer. Transport Service Access Point Address The complete communications address which unambiguously defines a transport service user. The TSAP address comprises the NSAP address and a TSAP-selector. Transport Service Access Point Selector The element of the transport address that identifies the user of the transport protocol entity. Transport Service User The entity which uses transport layer services. Transversal Acceleration See Across Track Acceleration. Traversed Sector List A list of sectors representing the airspace penetrated by a trajectory.

Trigger Notice to Airmen
NOTAM alerting recipients and PIB users of the existence and subject content of AIRAC AIP Amendments and Supplements. In the case of Supplements, these may not always follow the AIRAC cycle.
Troposphere
That portion of the atmosphere from the earth's surface to the stratosphere; that is, the lowest 10 to 20 kilometres of the atmosphere. The troposphere is characterised by decreasing temperature with height, appreciable vertical wind motion, appreciable water vapour content, and weather.
True Airspeed
The actual speed of an aircraft relative to the air through which it is flying corrected for
temperature and air density.

True Score
The average of the scores earned by an individual on an unlimited number of perfectly parallel forms of the same test. (CDSEPT, 1996).
Tsyklon
First navigation satellite launched by the Soviet Union in late 1967. The satellite is based on Doppler techniques demonstrated by U.S. Transit system.
Tunnel Alarm
The annunciation to the pilot that a tunnel incident is imminent. Tunnel Alarm also refers to the sub-system used to generate the annunciation.
Tunnel Concept
The principle of the Tunnel Concept (TC) is to establish airspace protection criteria based on the occurrence that an aircraft would unintentionally leave the tunnel of protected airspace. The requirement necessary to keep the aircraft in such a tunnel is the RNP type, translated into accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability parameters. These parameters constitute the probability that an aircraft will leave the tunnel. This occurrence is called a tunnel incident and is the main factor for determining the separation between obstacles and other aircraft. In combination with other factors such as traffic density, flight phase and controllers intervention. It determines whether the minimised risk goal is met. As an example for the approach phase a tunnel incident for an individual aircraft requires that only one occurrence may take place in one in a million approaches. Initially, the tunnel concept will be applied for the 2-dimensional part of the final approach and landing phases of flight. It is expected that the concept will first be expanded to the other flight phases after which the 3rd and 4th dimension will be included.
