Plot A target report resulting from digital integration of the received echoes (PSR) or replies (SSR) inside the antenna beam width. The PSR report contains range and bearing information whereas the S SR report contains in addition Mode 3/A identity code and the Mode C decoded altimeter height value. Plot Accuracy Analysis The positional accuracy, provided by the radar system is expressed in terms of the maximum acceptable positional errors, which are categorised as: Systematic errors; Residual random errors; Jumps. Plot Combiner A signal processing device for the combination of PSR and SSR data ascertained as having originated from the same target (aircraft). Targets failing to meet pre.defined combination criteria will be output as PSR only or SSR only plots in place of combined plots. Plot Detection Analysis Plot detection analysis is an Attempt to study the reliability of the radar. Several types of analysis are available in SASS-C PDA with respect to the radar type : a) Primary probability of detection if the radar has a primary antenna; b) Secondary probability of detection, mode A code and mode C probability of code detection if the radar has a secondary antenna; c) Combination rate and combination loss rate if the radar has both primary and secondary antenna. Plot Extractor A signal processing equipment, which applies digital integration techniques to detect and resolve, depending upon design, either PSR reflected returns or SSR transponder replies to provide a single message output for each aircraft in the OCV. Both PSR and SSR plot extractors provide range and bearing of the aircraft in the plot output messages whereas SSR plot extractors also include Mode 3/A identity code and the Mode C decoded altimeter height value. Plot Filter A signal processing device which has the function to filter out radar plot data which can be positively identified as non aircraft returns by a scan-to-scan correlation process. Plot Quality (characteristics) A number of quantities describing the Clutter Density, the Detection Probability and the measurement error distributions. See also Input Characteristics.
