Correlation
1- A function which builds an association between a state vector and a flight plan data based on SSR code recognition, geographical and timing checks with respect to the flight route and profile. The degree to which two sets of measurements vary together. (SIOP, 1987).
2- Plot-to-track correlation is the process of relating tracks with trajectories. The mutual distance between track and trajectory is used as a criterion during the track.
Cosecant -Squared Antenna An antenna pattern for which the gain is proportional to the square of the cosecant of the elevation angle. This results in an approximately constant signal, as a function of range, from an aircraft at constant flight level.
Cost A general term describing total expenses incurred in bringing the production of goods and services up to a given stage and/or a given time. Cost account Lowest level at which costs are controlled. Costas Loop PLL which demodulates the incoming BPSK signal and recovers the carrier. Cost-Benefit Analysis 1- Quantified statement of the economic worth of a project, in terms of cost and benefits to all parties. If not quantifiable, a CBA becomes a cost-benefit impact assessment in which costs and benefits are qualified.
2- A process for systematically identifying the costs and benefits arising in a project in both quantitative and qualitative terms, whilst taking into account their timing Course / Acquisition Code The standard, civilian GPS code, involving a sequence of 1023 pseudo-random bits at a rate of
1.023 Mbps. Courseware The instructional package of educational material comprising software (particularly teach ware), documentation and other media resources. Coverage
1- Radar Sensor coverage is the three-dimensional volume of Airspace within which the specified performance and availability requirements are satisfied.
2- The coverage provided by a radio-navigation system is that surface area or space volume in which the signals are adequate to permit the user to determine position to a specified level of accuracy. Coverage is influenced by system geometry, signal power levels, receiver sensitivity, atmospheric noise conditions and other factors which affect signal availability.
Coverage Measurement Volume The coverage measurement volume is defined as the three dimensional volume of Airspace within which the performance and availability requirements will be analysed during a particular measurement campaign. Crew Resource Management See Cockpit / Crew Resource Management Criterion A measure of job performance or job behaviour, such as training score or supervisory ratings.
