Item Analysis
2- In item analysis each item of a test is correlated with the total score of the test. Since the aim of the analysis is to produce a homogeneous test, each item should be measuring what the test measures. It is further analysed, if appropriate, whether the items of a test have sufficient selectivity (namely, the items are able to discriminate between low and high performances) and are at the required difficulty level.
Item Difficulty
An index that indicates the percentage of candidates who answered that item correctly.
Iteration Loop
Method within the systems theory refinement process. Basically it describes the process of mentally moving between the real world situation, a model of that situation and back to the real world.
J
Jamming Electronic or mechanical interference which may disrupt the display of aircraft on radar or the transmission or reception of radio communications or navigation. JANUS-radar Double Antenna radar with antenna in a back-to-back configuration. Job Tasks, sub-tasks and task elements performed by an individual or team. The higher level unit of analysis is often used in personal selection and assignment and work classification. Job Aid Device (e.g. checklist) made available on-the-job and designed to facilitate correct performance of the task by extending the performer’s capability to retain and utilise information. Job Analysis The systematic collection of data describing the tasks that comprise a job and the knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics that enable an individual to carry out those tasks (Landy, 1993). Job Description Features and purposes of a job; the major activities, duties and responsibilities involved, and the primary knowledge, skills, mental and physical abilities required to perform the job competently. Job Family That part of a job description that lists which tasks are components of the job. Joint Tactical Information Distribution System JTIDS is a jam-resistant, secure and high capacity digital data and voice distribution system that can transfer tactical data from AWACS, joint-STARS and Navy E-2C command-and-control aircraft to command centres, ships, aircraft and other similarly equipped units. JTIDS also is being used on some fighter aircraft. It can provide a pilot with a comprehensive picture of the air battle with data on enemy aircraft being fed into a cockpit display from AWACS and other off board sources. Judgement / Awareness The extent to which the machines' decision on when and how to intervene and support the tasks requires assessment, knowledge and understanding of the task.

K
Ka A Radar Frequency Band. The set of frequencies between 26.5 and 40 GHz. Kalman Filter A filter for combining multiple data sources, usually of different types, to produce an estimate better than any single source. Kilohertz One thousand hertz. Kinematic Surveying A precision D-GPS surveying technique. The roving user does not need to stop to collect precision information. Meter centimetre level accuracy is available using modern dual-frequency carrier-phase measurement techniques. Knots A unit of speed of one nautical mile (nm) per hour. Knowledge Information required for developing skills. Job concepts or rules (declarative knowledge) and their interrelationship (structural knowledge). The job-specific content or information which a person has gained through training, education and/or experience. Knowledge is built upon the foundation of mental abilities that a person brings to the situation. Ku Radar Frequency Band. The set of frequencies between 12.5 and 18 GHz.
