Initial Approach Segment That segment of an initial approach, associated with the initial approach fix and the intermediate approach fix or, where applicable, the final approach fix or point. Initial Domain Part The IDP identifies the Addressing Authority responsible for an Addressing Sub domain which assigned the NSAP Address, and which specified the abstract syntax and structure of the remainder of the NSAP Address. Initial Flight Plan Processing The function of accepting a flight plan and generating the IFPL. Initial Missed Approach Waypoint A 3-dimensional, high precision waypoint located in the near vicinity of the runway used to establish the Initial Missed Approach Segment. Initial Operational Capability 1- For GIPS, this is defined as the capability that will occur when 24 GPS satellites (Block I/II/IIA) are operating in their assigned orbits and are available for navigation use.
2- IOC is a time frame reference schedule in the procurement process of GNSS systems. IOC for GNSS systems precludes the US federal procurement process. Initiation The starting of a new track from plots not yet correlated or associated to any track.
Initiation Lag [Delay] (Track) The time duration between the first input and subsequent first output of the tracker for a certain Object. Or initiation delay is the time or number of scans between the moment the first target report of an object is received by the tracker and the first moment of availability of a track state vector corresponding with that object at the output of the tracker. Objects may be aircraft, birds or cars.
Inner Marker Innermost marker beacon on an ILS. Inner Performance Boundary (Tunnel Concept) Note: "Inner Tunnel" is an alternate term for the IPB.
The IPB refers to certain bounds on the actual aircraft position (more specifically, the aircraft centre of mass). For any point along the desired trajectory, the aircraft centre of mass must be located between the horizontal bounds with 95% probability and must be between the vertical bounds with 95% probability.
In-phase and Quadrature Channels
The In-phase and Quadrature channels of a Moving Target Indicator (MTI) or Moving Target Detection (MTD) equipment used for the extraction of phase and amplitude information of the received signal. In older systems these channels were processed separately to avoid "blind phases".
Input (Plot)
Plot information being input for the tracker.
Input / Output System
The I/O system is one of the four components of the structural model of the cognitive processes of ATC. It is responsible for the selection of information and the selection of responses.
