c) recording and reporting the status of configuration items and change requests
d) verifying the completeness and correctness of configuration items and
e) maintaining integrity and traceability throughout the project.

Confirmed Track Track with a high Confidence (above a tracker dependent threshold). Conflict (MTCD) Either an aircraft conflict, or a special use airspace penetration, or a descent below lowest usable flight level, or a nominal routes overlap. Conflict (SNET) An aircraft is in conflict with an object (other aircraft, protected airspace or the ground) when it is, or is predicted to be, within pre-defined separation criteria from that object. The separation criteria do not equate to ATC separation standards and may vary depending on the geometry and location of the conflict. Conflict data (MTCD) Consists of : conflict identification; conflict type, which is either aircraft conflict, or special use airspace penetration, or descent below lowest usable flight level, or nominal routes overlap; conflict severity; either aircraft conflict data, or special use airspace penetration data, or descent below lowest usable flight level data, or nominal routes overlap data. Conflict severity (MTCD) Indication of the severity of a conflict (MTCD) on a scale from 1 to 10, based on values of pre-defined parameters (e.g., time to conflict, minimum distance between trajectories, and geometry of trajectories). Conformance Monitoring The process by which the automated ATC system measures and reports on deviations between the actual and expected positions of flights. Connection Less Network Protocol ISO 8473 internetworking protocol Connection Less Network Service ISO 8348 connectionless network services Connection Less Transport Protocol A class of transport layer protocols/service providing no connection context; data is transmitted without a previous connection establishment phase. Connection Mode Service The communication service technique which transfers data between peer layers using a prior connection to logically associate the sequence of protocol data units (PDUs). Connectionless Mode Service The communication service technique transfers data between peer layers without prior co.ordination. All protocol data units (PDUs) are transferred with no explicit association between them. Consensus General or widespread agreement referring to collective opinion.

Consequence of Future ATM Systems for ATCO Selection and Training A methodology for training. CAST, a project of the European Union 4th Framework, analyses the impact of future ATM systems on the selection and training of ATCOs. After analysing the existing methods for selection and training it proposes an approach for preparing individualised training in complex cognitive skills which take account of the requirements of these new ATM systems. Constant sequence A point or time at which the calculated and established arrival sequence for a fix or runway remains unchanged except for manual override, emergencies or missed approach. Constraint point Any runway, point or fix (expressed in Lat./Long.) that can be defined and described in the system for AMAN metering purposes. For this point rules and requirements could be defined. (E.g. interval of flights or holding procedures etc.). Construct-related Validity The process of identifying psychological construct domains that overlap significantly with the performance domain and then developing predictors that adequately sample these construct domains. Context Management An independent service that meets ATSC addressing requirements. It provides the mechanism for aircraft and ATC ground system peers to indicate availability to other ATN users and to convey the addresses to be employed. ATC Comm interfaces with aircraft CM equipment to provide ATC ground system peers the addresses needed to establish communication with ATC Comm. (RTCA Do-219) Contextual environment Relates to societal, environmental, political and technological factors. Contingency Plan Course of action to be taken in the event of a technical / catastrophic outage or disruption of service due to industrial action (EATCHIP 1997), or any other abnormal incident occurring. Continuation The maintenance of an existing track from plots received. Continuation (Track) The process of tracing and predicting in real time an aircraft Track. Continuation Training Provision of training related to a job category in order to increase knowledge and skills and/or to prepare for new technologies. Continuity Continuity is the ability of the total system to perform its function without interruption during the intended operation. Continuity Risk The continuity risk is the probability that the system will be interrupted and will not provide guidance information for the intended operation. Continuous Professional Development The systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skill together with the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional, managerial and technical duties throughout the practitioner’s working life.
