Check float system (if fitted). Depress Cb, switch to test. DO NOT ARM. Pull trigger to get green light. Release trigger. ARM float system, check light. DISARM and pull Cb.
Switch on landing, nav lights and pitot heat, check operation of all, then switch off.
Turn the engine anti-ice actuator on and off, listening to ensure that the electrically operated valve is functioning.
Repeat for Fuel Valve and leave OFF. Draw sample of fuel from tank drain and check for water. Ensure flow stops when button is released (if it doesn’t a sharp tap where the fuel comes out usually cures it). Note: There are 3 drains to be considered (2 on the Bell 206L) which must be operated on each daily inspection, drawing approx half a pint of fuel for sampling if possible:
.
The fuel tank drain, electrically or manually operated against a spring loaded plunger directly underneath the airframe. The fuel valve must be OFF for operation. 'A' series aircraft tend to have manually operated ones.

.
The airframe fuel filter—port side. Fuel pumps must be on, as must be the fuel valve. Some 206Bs may have them on the starboard side, as in the 206L.

.
The engine fuel filter (A or B). Fuel pumps on, fuel valve on.

These drains must be operated on each daily inspection, drawing approx half a pint of fuel for sampling if possible.
Fuel valve ON. Fuel pumps ON. Check audibly in all cases. Check fuel pressure indicated. Open port engine cover and operate fuel filter valve for a few seconds. This may be on the starboard side for some earlier aircraft and will be for the Bell 206L.
On the 206L, check fuel filter caution light operation (the button is on top of the filter). Operate engine fuel drain for a few seconds. Check samples for water, ensure fuel pumps OFF.

Open the battery compartment, check the battery and leads are secure, check for corrosion in and around the battery compartment, close and secure the cover.
Check the pitot head is unobstructed and secure. If not already in use, open the external power supply socket cover, inspect for cleanliness, close and secure the cover.
Examine both landing lights, filaments and perspex covers.
From the front, check the windscreen, roof and cabin floor perspex panels for cleanliness and crazing, all cracks being drilled. Check forward crosstube fairing, antennae and battery vents on the underside. Check roof antennae.
Check security of windscreen wipers.
Moving to the starboard, static vents should be clean and unobstructed. Open and close the cabin doors, checking hinge nuts in safety and door retaining straps. Ensure that door locks are operating and each door is secured. Check windows.
Make a thorough inspection of the undercarriage including skids and crosstubes and navigation lights, ensuring that the starboard ones are green. When flotation gear is fitted, ensure that all press studs are secure and that all flexible hoses and solid pipes are secure and undamaged.
