.
Motivation

The introduction should offer specific reasons for needing whatever the students are about to learn. This motivation should appeal to each student personally. The appeal may relate the learning to career advancement, financial gain, service to community groups, use at home, or some other attraction. In every instance, a specific application should be cited.

.
Overview

Every session introduction should contain an overview that tells the students what is to be covered during the session. A clear, concise presentation of the objective and how well it is to be performed gives the students a clear view of the route to be followed. The introduction should be free of stories, jokes, or incidents that do not help the students focus attention on the objective.
3.2.1.2 Development
Development is the main part of the lesson. Here, the instructor develops the subject matter in a manner that helps the students achieve the desired outcomes. The instructor must organize the material logically to show the relationships of the main points. These relationships usually are shown by developing the main points in one of the following ways-from the past to present, from the simple to the complex, from the known to the unknown, from the most frequently used to the least frequently used.

.
Past to Present

In the past to present pattern of development, the subject matter is arranged chronologically. Such time relationships are most suitable when history is an important consideration, as in tracing the development of aircraft design.

.
Simple to Complex

Simple to complex development helps the instructor lead the student from simple facts or ideas to an understanding of involved concepts or procedures. In studying jet propulsion, the student might begin by considering the action involved in releasing air from a balloon and finish by taking part in a discussion of a complex gas turbine.

Known to Unknown
