12.1.2  A very important aspect of any diversion to an airport in a remote region is the safety and protection of the passengers after landing and the recovery operation, which includes getting the passengers to their destination and the ability to fly the airplane onward. The plan for doing this in a timely and efficient manner will depend in large part on the information provided by the captain on site. It is most important to establish communications may be difficult in the Russian far north. Use whatever means is available, including SATCOM or HF from the airplane. Remember, the ADIRU must be aligned for SATCOM to work on the ground.
For any diversion into a Russian or QFE/meters airport, refer to the B777 ECL for the QFE/,ETERS OPERATIONS found in the UNANNUNCIATED section of the checklist.

12.3 POLAR AND RUSSIAN ETOPS ALTERNATE AIRPORTS
12.3.1 Anadyr / Ugolny (UHMA / DYR)
This airport is the most Eastern of the Russian airports and lies directly across the Bering Strait from Alaska. It would mainly support the Eastern Siberian routes and could support Polar 4 in some instances. There is terrain Northeast of the airport within 5 miles. The terrain surrounding the airport consists of tundra-covered hills with an average height less than 700 m (2300 ft). the approach to Runway 01 is over water and there is no terrain factor. The runway 01/19 is
11.483 ft in length and has PAR and NDB instrument approaches in both directions. There are obstacles to east and southeast of the airport (2043). There are no ILS approaches.
12.3.2 Abakan Airport (UNAA/ABA)
Abakan is the administrative center of the republic of Khakassia, south-central Russia. The city lies on the bank of the Abakan River near its confluence with Yenisey River. It is situated in the middle of Russia, only 500 km from the geographical center of Asia. The population of the city is 160,000 people and is an important archaeological center. The airport has three runways 02L/20R, 02C/20C. 02R/20L. The primary runway is 02R/20L, which is 10,663 ft. X 148 ft., and is equipped with an ILS to each end. Airport elevation is 830 ft. There are obstacles northeast at 2041’.
