In a NO COMM situation the flight is expected to remain at the last assigned altitude until contact has been established and a clearance received.
7.1.7  The above procedures are different than when crossing the Russian FIRs of Anadyr (UHMA) or Mys Shmidta (UHMI) while on AIRWAYS G121 B244 or A218. In this case, Anchorage ARTCC is responsible for ensuring all westbound aircraft are established at the coordinated metric boundaries. Eastbound flights transitioning from Anadyr or Mys Shmidta to Anchorage ARTCC should remain at the current metric altitude until contact with Anchorage ARTCC who will provide clearance to the new altitude assignment measured in feet.
7.1.8  When operating beyond the VHF range of Russian ATC facilities, communications with ATC are available on HF. The call sign is in the charted communications box and may include the word Radio.
7.1.9  “Radio” in the call sign does not imply a GP service as in other parts of the world. In Russia, this indicates HF communications with an ATC controller. Russian ATC HF facilities normally show at least two

frequencies; the higher is used during the day and the lower at night. The equipped with SELCAL. Therefore, a listening watch is required on HF frequencies assigned for ATC while in Russian airspace. If the Russian HF signal appears to be sufficiently strong but is distorted, it may be that the transmitter is in the AM (alpha mike) mode. If this is the case the choice is to select AM on the radio-tuning panel or to request the controller to transmit on upper side band.
7.1.10 The Russian controlling facilities  are, Murmansk radio on 4672,5694, 8950, 11390 for ABERI, and DEVID or Magadan Radio on 4712, 8837, 11390 for RAMEL and ORVIT. If unable to establish contact by the FIR boundary or if communications are difficult, pass a request through Arctic Radio to Anchorage Center to pass the FIR boundary position report to the appropriate Control (Murmansk or Magadan). Direction from Arctic Radio to contact Magadan or Murmansk indicates transfer of control was successful and that you are expected to continue. Refer to the Polar Orientation Chart for specific ATC procedures and frequencies for each polar route.
