7.1.3  Arctic Radio has access to current temperature and winds aloft forecast and can pass reports from preceding aircraft.
7.1.4  As a standard GP radio service, Arctic Radio can pass messages between the aircraft and dispatch. This will maintain communications with ATC through Arctic Radio, satisfies the company communications requirement and serves as an acceptable company communications alternative to data link and SATVOICE.
.  Reykjavik uses the NAT family D frequencies. Family D includes the following : 2971, 4675, 8891, 11279. Frequency selection is based on atmospheric conditions. 8891 and 11279 are most commonly used.
7.1.5  Flights routed over ABERI will transit the Reykjavik OTCA, which will require an oceanic clearance from Iceland Radio. Experience has shown that Iceland will contact you and issue the clearance. Reykjavik will handle the coordination with Murmansk for the altitude transition. Normally this will take place in Russian airspace as is described in paragraph below “Russia”. Transitioning from a flight level in feet to one in meters during lost communication is the same as described in the following paragraph.
Issue I 28.08.2007  Rev. 0
. Russia
7.1.6  Flight crews entering Russian airspace over RAMEL or ORVIT will be at FL320, FL340 or FL380 (see PAZA NOTAMs for useable altitudes). Magadan control will issue the clearance to transition to metric altitude. Aircraft corssing at DEVID will be at FL310, FL350 or FL390 and will be issued clearance to transition to metric altitude from Murmansk control. In all cases the crews should anticipate a change from the assigned flight level to the corresponding metric altitude after entering Russian airspace. This will not normally begin until past ABERI, DEVID, RAMEL, and ORVIT. The flight crews dispatched over DEVID, RAMEL, and ORVIT should report crossing 141W on their assigned frequency. The flight will be advised by Arctic Radio/Reykjavik to contact the appropriate Russian ACC and to report the Polar gateway fix on HF. Report ABERI or DEVID to Murmansk control on 11390 Primary or 5694 Secondary. Report RAMEL or ORVIT to Magadan control on 11390 Primary or 8837 Secondary. If the crew is unable to contact the Russian ACC, return to Arctic Radio/Reykjavik OCTA and report the polar gateway to them. In this case, Arctic Radio will forward the position report to Russian ACC. If unable to reestablish contact with Arctic Radio, Anchorage will protect the airspace for the flight’s current flight level which is in Anchorage airspace only. All aircraft entering any Russian FIR from the Anchorage or Reykjavik FIRs will change from the assigned Flight Level to the corresponding metric altitude entering Russian airspace and only after receiving a clearance from the appropriate Russian ACC.
