RESUME OWN NAVIGATION - Used by Air Traffic Control to advise a pilot to resume his own navigational responsibility. It is issued after completion of a radar vector or when radar contact is lost while the aircraft is being radar vectored. (See Radar Contact Lost, Radar Service Terminated)
RNAV - (See Area Navigation)
RNAV APPROACH - An instrument approach procedure which relies on aircraft area navigation equipment for navigational guidance. (See Instrument Approach Procedure, Area Navigation)
RNP Airspace RTCA SC-181/EUROCAE WG-13 - A generic term referring to airspace, routes, or legs where minimum navigation performance requirements (RNP) exist, and aircraft must meet or exceed that performance to fly in that airspace.
RNP-(x) RNAV RTCA SC-181/EUROCAE WG-13 - A designator used to indicate the minimum navigation system requirements needed to operate in an area, on a route, or on a procedure (e.g., RNP-1 RNAV, RNP-4 RNAV).
RNP Type based on ICAO Doc. 9613 - RNP accuracy standards require an aircraft to remain within a specific number of nautical miles (NM) of its cleared position for 95% of the duration of the flight. This designator invokes all of the navigation performance requirements associated with the applicable RNP number, which is a containment value, (e.g., RNP-1, RNP-4, RNP-5, RNP-12.6, RNP-20).
ROAD RECONNAISSANCE (RC) - Military activity requiring navigation along roads, railroads, and rivers. Reconnaissance route/route segments are seldom along a straight line and normally require a lateral route width of 10 nautical miles to 30 nautical miles and altitude range of 500 feet to 10,000 feet above ground level.
ROGER - I have received all of your last transmission. It should not be used to answer a question requiring a yes or no answer. (See Affirmative, Negative)
ROLLOUT RVR - (See Visibility)
ROUTE (P/CG) - A defined path, consisting of one or more courses in a horizontal plane, which aircraft traverse over the surface of the earth. (See Jet Route, Airway, Published Route, Unpublished Route)
ROUTE (JCS, NATO) - The prescribed course to be traveled from a specific point of origin to a specific destination.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION (ICAO) - The unambiguous delineation of a route in terms of an ordered sequence of Air Traffic Service route designators and/or significant points.
ROUTE SEGMENT (P/CG) - Used in Air Traffic Control, a part of a route that can be defined by two navigational fixes, two navigational aids, or a fix and a navigational aid. (See Route, Fix) ROUTE SEGMENT (ICAO) - A portion of a route to be flown, as defined by two consecutive significant points specified in a flight plan.
RUNWAY (P/CG) - A defined rectangular area, on a land airport prepared for the landing and take-off run of aircraft along its length. Runways are normally numbered in relation to their magnetic direction rounded off to the nearest 10 degrees, e.g., runway 25, runway 01. (See Parallel Runways)
RUNWAY (JCS, NATO, ICAO) - A defined rectangular area, on a land aerodrome prepared for the landing and take-off run of aircraft along its length.
